Summer’s just around the corner. And you know what that means… The sunshine is on its way! But before you soak up the sun, Dennis Stolpner reminds you to protect your skin from UV rays — starting with your skincare routine!

We love the sun. And the sun loves us… right?  Well, while the sunlight is rich in much-needed Vitamin D, there’s also something harmful hiding in the UV.  Without proper summertime skincare, you could be putting your skin at risk of life-threatening damage.

The sun can cause major damage to your skin, from reduction in elasticity to premature aging.  (Not to mention the development of skin cancer!)   But not all hope is lost.. You can still enjoy the sun and soak up that healthy Vitamin D, as long as you keep Dennis Stolpner’s summertime skin care recommendations in mind!

  1. Don’t forget your sunscreen!

Dennis Stolpner recommends using sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.  And yes, he does mean ‘at least!’  SPF 30 should be your bare minimum, so shoot for higher whenever you can!  However, it’s important to keep in mind that no sunscreen can completely block out the sun’s UV rays or their effects on human skin.  Which leads Stolpner to his next suggestion…

  1. Seek out the shade!

This could mean wearing a hat  with a visor or making sure you’ve got an umbrella with you when you hit the beach.  Either way, Dennis Stolpner recommends doing your best to minimize the amount of time you are directly exposed to sunlight.  You can still enjoy the sunshine without the sunrays dripping their damage directly onto your skin!
