In Tennessee, summer vacation is coming to a close and the 2022-2023 school year is already here. To welcome kids back, the American Red Cross and AAA have shared some back to school safety tips to help students prepare for the year ahead:

The American Red Cross and AAA recommend that students prepare for emergencies by taking a first aid course or class.  Longtime Disaster Relief Volunteer and healthcare professional, Dennis Stolpner encourages students to use the Red Cross First Aid App, which is a valuable tool that provides instant access to emergency information, including lessons on CPR/AED skills.  ARC and AAA also remind students to only ride their own school bus (if this is their method of transportation to and from school), to never dart out in front of traffic or in between vehicles on the road and to always stay in clear view of the bus driver.  Both organizations also encourage young students to learn their phone number, home address, how to get in contact with their parents at their place of employment and also how to dial 9-1-1 in case of an emergency.
