According to a statement recently released by the American Red Cross, 2% of their blood donors have tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies. Dedicated Red Cross Disaster Relief Volunteer, Dennis Stolpner shares the story:

After months of social distancing, the American Red Cross has struggled to draw in blood donations. As the pandemic carries on, the initiative has gone the extra mile to attempt to replenish blood donation supply — particularly, in recent weeks. Now, after weeks or recooperating, the American Red Cross has made an interesting statement. However, it won’t come as much of a surprise to anyone!

The organization specifically announced that a whopping two percent of their blood donations have tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies. Although this may sound like a small portion of their donations, the amount speaks volumes about the greater public. Dennis Stolpner, like many others, assumes that an incredible amount of individuals carry COVID-19 antibodies right now… even though they might be blissfully unaware that they ever had the coronavirus! It will be interesting to see what comes to light as the pademic continues to carry on around the world.
